How much does it cost to live?
Tacoma is a relatively inexpensive place to live - average three-bedroom is $139,000 (based on sales May 1, 1999 to July 3, 1999). In Pierce County, a three bedroom home in Lakewood is $167,000, Puyallup, $154,000 and Gig Harbor $203,000. Groceries, private schools and electricity costs are among the lowest in the nation. Tacoma City Light, power company for the majority of Pierce County ranges from 3 cents to 5 cents per kilowatt-hour.

And, what about the rain?
What about our rain? It rains less in Tacoma than St. Louis, San Francisco and Chicago with less than 40 inches. Most of that falls from October to March. (To be honest, it's the number of rainy days that gives us the reputation.)

Tacoma is a large metropolitan market with many adjacent towns and cities, Lakewood, Fircrest, University Place share Tacoma resources. For employees wanting urban advantages, these cities offer strong urban communities. Each maintains a distinct character of social economic factors, diversity, community involvement and town politics. For employees wanting a more rural home life, there are cities like Puyallup and Yelm that offer acreage, ranches and small farms within a 45-minute drive of downtown Tacoma. This region even offers islands that are only accessible by ferry. The islands of Vashon, and Anderson offer As an example, Vashon Island is a more secluded and private area.

One of Tacoma's best qualities is its proximity to recreation. A scant two- hours from Pacific Ocean beaches, immediate, year-round fishing, sailing and boating are all available in the Puget Sound. Sailboat racing; internationally acclaimed mountain climbing, abundant hiking and camping are all within a 45-minute drive. The world-class ski resort, Whistler/Blackcomb is four-hour drive from SeaTac airport - five from Tacoma and great skiing at Crystal Mountain (1 ½ hour drive), and Stevens Pass (2 ½ hours). .

What is the personal income tax in Tacoma?
There are no corporate or personal income taxes in Washington State.

What are some attractions in Tacoma?
Tacoma is home to Mount Rainier Nation Park with the fourth highest peak in United States (14,410 feet) and offers 305 miles of maintained hiking trails. The Northwest Trek Wildlife Park with its 635 acres is the only natural-habitat animal preserve in the Northwest. (You're on the train, the animals roam free.)

We also have the Tacoma Dome, the world's largest wood-covered arena with a capacity of up to 26,000 spectators. Musicians from far and wide tout its, acoustics. Art and culture? Of course. Tacoma is home to the Washington State Museum of History, a Pantages Theater and will soon feature an international glass art museum and a new 50,000 foot art museum.
